“One must travel to learn.” – Mark Twain
My name is Debra and I am an itinerary crafter, a student of maps and history (I study maps, history, and travel guides in my spare time to have fun and relax, an adventurer, traveler, and life-long learner).
I have done many things in my life including going to law school (what was I thinking? lol), raising sheep in Washington State, being a stay-at-home-mom for several years, led a wonderful group of little girls in Maple Valley, WA as their Girl Scout Leader, elementary school teacher in Jacksonville, Florida, an award winning blogger, podcaster, published author, social media specialist, digital marketer, lover of cats, a fine French red wine and IPA craft beer… I love the outdoors, swimming, taking a walk in nature, writing, and most of all… PLANNING MY NEXT ADVENTURE!
You can ask my daughter and husband… what I live for and spend my spare time doing… is planning for the next trip. I study maps, travel guide books, travel sites, YouTube videos, documentaries, and more.

Why Travel History Portal?
I will be honest with you right now… while I always was an excellent student as a young person, history and geography were not my best subjects. It was not until I became an older adult that I truly appreciated how fascinating these topics are. Frankly, I now can not get enough! I have a desire to gain a deeper understanding of the world around me and studying maps and learning about history satisfies that hunger.
“To travel is to live.” – Hans Christian Andersen
I am also passionate about planning a trip. I love to travel and will craft amazing itineraries for my husband John or daughter Aimee and myself. You, should you choose to be inspired here at The History Travel Portal, will benefit from my passion and experience.
I invite you to come along with me on this journey.
Let us learn, explore, discover, and live!
Cheers,
Debra
